Malvina Major Retirement Village is located in the Wellington suburb of Khandallah, with magnificent views over the Ngauranga Gorge and across the Wellington Harbour. The village has three impressive internal atriums, so residents can enjoy the ambience of a lush outdoor environment all year round.

In addition to the atriums, Malvina Major has beautifully landscaped gardens, where our care centre is positioned. The centre offers resthome, hospital and specialised dementia level care. We also cater for both short term and day care. Rooms in our resthome are modern and spacious, and all come with a private ensuite, heating, television and nice views. If your needs become more complex, you’ll have access to hospital level of care and clinical support. Our dementia care unit, is monitored by specialised staff who ensure the safety and dignity of residents are met at all times. The unit includes special design features, such as textured walls and use of colour to assist residents in finding their way about. There are also secure indoor and outdoor areas which are monitored unobtrusively by staff. Across all levels of care, we try to ensure that residents see the same staff each day, to provide the best care and a sense familiarity.
Residents will enjoy many wonderful facilities at Malvina Major, including the village centre and a separate lounge, library, hair salon, beauty therapy, movie theatre and of course our impressive atriums. In addition, we run a diverse activities schedule that caters for a wide range of interests. Common activities include game & quizzes, planned trips out, a men’s club, movie sessions, music and a happy hour each Friday.
