Leslie Groves

Leslie Groves is a residential care facility based in Wakari, Dunedin, offering several levels of care including rest home, hospital, dementia, respite, and psychogeriatric. The facility is operated by the Roslyn branch of St John’s Friends of the Aged and Needy Society, a charitable trust. The trust is governed by a Board of Parishioners from the Anglican Parish of St John’s Roslyn.

Different levels of care are provided in different ‘units’.

Ferntree Unit provides dementia level care for up to 17 residents in a secure, purpose-built environment.

Redwood Unit provides hospital level care for up to 31 residents. All rooms are large, bright, and inviting, with a private ensuite.

Taieri Unit provides specialised hospital level care (D6) and psychogeriatric care for up to 23 residents. The unit is home to several lounge and recreation areas, as well as bright courtyards.

Leslie Groves Rest Home provides rest home level care for up to 33 residents in a warm, home-like environment.

St John’s Church in Highgate, Roslyn provides a comprehensive day programme, Monday to Friday, offering transport, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a wide variety of social and leisure activities.

Life at Leslie Groves revolves around values of respect, compassion, dignity, and excellence. The facility is inspired by a vision “to respect, demonstrate, and uphold Christian values in a compassionate and supportive environment”. All units within the facility provide ample spaces and opportunities for social interaction and entertainment. On-site services include spiritual care, divisional therapists, and meals and refreshments. A care team is on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
