Te Puna Waiora in Kerkeri is Arvida’s newest and northernmost community for over-65s. It’s being built in stages over several years. Stage one (independent villas) is selling now.

Moving into a community as its being constructed comes with a major benefit – you get to influence how it all comes together. At Te Puna Waiora, management are listening to residents’ ideas for landscaping, community features and on-site amenities.

There’s already talk of a mini-farm, because some residents will arrive with farming knowledge and a love of animals. There’s also the strong possibility of a share boat that lets experienced mariners get out on the water.

In addition to special features that give Te Puna Waiora a strong point of difference, the community will have a clubhouse, walkways and cycle paths. Future plans include a care centre for residents who need rest home care, hospital-level or dementia care.

There are also plans to build an Arvida Living Well Centre, with a café, swimming pool, gym, fitness classes, health services and much more. All Te Puna Waiora residents will enjoy free membership to this centre.

The name ‘Te Puna Waiora, the source of wellbeing’ was gifted to the community by representatives of mana whenua, Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia. Puna means a fountain or a spring, signifying regeneration and Waiora means health and wellness.

The two and three-bedroom villas for independent living that are selling now are based on an ‘L’ shaped form around a landscaped courtyard. A showhome is open for inspection and the first residents are moving in. Read less
